Recipe: Turmeric Tea

Did you know that recent research shows that #turmeric has powerful benefits against depression and anxiety.

Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric, counteracts harmful inflammation and has been shown to relieve anxiety when taken on its own. It can also enhance the effects of antidepressants like Prozac and Norpramin. Surprise surprise, it can also enhance the microbiome aka the gut, which is linked to mental health. Curcumin is best absorbed when taken with black pepper and a fat.

Here is My Recipe for Turmeric Tea:

Remove from heat and stir in 1/3 cup of unrefined organic coconut oil and 1/2-1 tsp of black pepper (capsin in black pepper increases absorbability of curcumin)

Store this in a glass container in the fridge.

When you're ready to make tea, put one teaspoon of paste in a mug, add a dash of cinnamon, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract and  teaspoon or two of raw honey to about a 1/3 cup of almond/coconut/hemp milk Fill the rest of the mug with boiling water and stir it up. Enjoy.
